The Wingless Sprints begin their four round ‘Gippsland Challenge’ this weekend at Rosedale Speedway and Bairnsdale Speedway with racing on Friday and Saturday night in the first of two double headers with the second later at the end of April as twenty competitors have a crack at winning the ‘Challenge’ supported by ‘Victory Lane Race Gear’ with a healthy $2000 prize contribution to the series.

Pakenham businessman Mat Eastham has been a great supporter of Wingless over the years as they have developed and continues to help the division develop in Gippsland. Competitors from Melbourne’s suburbs, Mornington Peninsula, Ballarat, Western Districts, Bendigo and Gippsland are amongst entrants in the series that won’t be defended by last years winner Brad Warren however will be heavily sought after by competitors entered this season.

This season’s challenge has a number of drivers with consistent performances that could be a series winner in this very evenly matched division. As an independent media representative writing this piece, I would direct you to follow Dayn Bentvelzen (Leongatha), Luke Cole (Terang), Adam Greenwood (Bairnsdale), Mark Laity (Bairnsdale), Troy Small (Kilmore), Wayne Milburn Jnr (Somerville) and Gary Bowden (Bairnsdale) as drivers most likely to be round winners and top five finishers at the end of the series.

Dayn Bentvelzen spoke on the subject of the ‘Gippsland Challenge’. “This series is awesome. We racers get great deals with ‘Victory Lane Race Gear’ so it is a pleasure to race in a series they support. We have great people organising this series that are tireless workers and we have venues that love having us race on their track. Mix in a little fun and laughter after the racing and its all good fun to be involved.”

On the subject of winning Dayn shared this remark. “Once you get on the race track you all want to win no doubt about it. Looking at the nomination list all the drivers that you would think can win it are easy to race side by side with without wrecking each other and lots of us are evenly matched. I can’t pick an overall winner however I hope to do enough to make sure it is me.”

However do not count out any of the others as Wingless Sprints continues to dish up surprises and surprise winner’s right around the state.
