The time has arrived for Victoria’s Wingless Sprint brigade to fire their first shot of season 2011/12.
A solid field of 22 entries has been received for this Saturday’s event at Avalon Raceway led by state champion David McKay and track specialist Phil Micallef.
There is a strong contingent of locally based cars, with the likes of Andy Hibbert, Chris Halesworth, Glenn Jones, Mick Parry, Peter Green, Peter Walters and Tim Fisher looking to defend home turf.
The Wren boys – Sam and James will hope to continue their stellar form from the previous season, Damien Meade makes the journey from Warrnambool, while Dan Dubois, Heath Hunter, James Gardiner, Justin Barton and Troy Small are also looking for a strong start to their respective campaigns.
A number of rookies will make their first appearance including go kart ace Luke Walker, Corey Pretlove and Simon Smith. Current day Sprintcar racers Domain Ramsay and Michael Cunningham both have cars for this season and are expected to race with the Wingless class when their 410 program allows.
All cars are to be in the pits by 5.30pm with racing to commence at 7pm.
